The Outpatient Infusion Center at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center offers care for patients who require intravenous infusion. Under the Medical Direction of E. Brent Perkins, M.D., an oncologist from Virginia Commonwealth University Massy Cancer Center, the Outpatient Infusion Center cares for a diverse population. Patients include those with cancer requiring chemotherapy, sickle cell patients requiring blood transfusions, patients who require daily intravenous antibiotic therapy and patients needing a multitude of other IV therapy treatments and procedures.

Q. Where is theOutpatient Infusion Center located?
A. The Outpatient Infusion Center is located in the Outpatient Services Department of Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center.

Q. Will the Outpatient Infusion Center accept my insurance?
A. Like all services offered by Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center, the Outpatient Infusion Center accepts all types of insurance; although some plans and procedures may require pre-authorization.

Q. Are patients allowed visitors in the Outpatient Infusion Center?
A. Due to space and privacy issues, we ask that each patient limit their visitors to one person. In addition, children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the Outpatient Infusion Center to protect our patients who may have compromised immune systems.

Q. Where do patients park?
A. Patients may park in any of the hospital’s parking areas.

Q. Are meals provided?
A. Patients are served a light meal if in the Outpatient Infusion Center during lunch. Light snacks are always available upon request.

Q. What resources are available to patients to help pass the time?
A. There are TVs in each of the patient rooms in the Outpatient Infusion Center and reading materials are also available.

Our certified oncology nurses and nursing staff partner with the physicians and nurse practitioners fromVirginia Commonwealth University’s Massy Cancer Center to provide care at the Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center Outpatient Infusion Center. From our Nurse On-call program to complimentary transportation for radiation therapy and patient teaching, our staff is dedicated to the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of the patients they serve.
