Emporia, VA (October 31, 2011) – National Healthcare Facilities and Engineering Week is observed October 24-30. During this week, Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center would like to recognize the Engineering Department staff for the important role they play in keeping the hospital safe and operational.
“Health care facility managers and engineers are an essential partner in health care. Too often unnoticed, these people are the unsung heroes who keep our facilities running smoothly“, said Brit Phelps, CEO of Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center. “They work in various areas of the facilities, including building and grounds, plant operations, design and construction, safety, security and clinical engineering. They serve a vital role and deserve recognition”, he added.
National Healthcare Facilities and Engineering Week, which is observed annually in October, is sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association. For more information on ASHE, go to www.ashe.org.
